EVALUASI POTENSI MATAAIR SEBAGAI SUMBER AIR BERSIH DAN UPAYA PELESTARIAN LINGKUNGAN DI PULAU BANGGAI SULAWESI TENGAH

Daerah penelitian adalah Pulau Banggai Kabupaten Banggai Kepulauan Propinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: 1) mengevaluasi potensi mataair yang digunakan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan air bersih di daerah penelitian; 2) mengkaji faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi potensi mataair di daerah penelitian; 3) menyusun suatu strategi pengelolaan lingkungan sebagai upaya pelestarian mataair sebagai sumber air bersih di daerah penelitian.

Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survei. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah data primer berupa debit mataair, kualitas air dan kebutuhan air di daerah penelitian; data sekunder berupa kebutuhan air (domestik, instansi pemerintah, niaga kecil, sosial, industri kecil), curah hujan, temperatur, kependudukan, penggunaan lahan, dan batuan (geologi). Potensi mataair dikumpulkan dengan cara survei lapangan berupa debit minimum dan kualitas air yang terdiri dari sifat fisik, kimia dan bakteriologi.

ABSTRACT: The research was conducted in a protection forest at the south slope of the Slamet Mountain, Central Java. The field observation of the spatial geofisics conditions (water budget, drought index, Water Holding Capacity prediction), protection forest cover changes and their impacts to the society wefare as the arising of the perception, participation and local society wisdom pushed to bring the forest garden back to a protection forest. The research method to analysis water budget used Thornwaite and Mather method (1957). The society income was analyzed with Sayogyo method (1976) or with regional minimum wage of Banyumas regency (2006). The perception, participation and local society wisdom in managing protection forest was analyzed with survey method and door to door communication.
